The Cycle of Mimetic Violence

Saturday, February 14 at 7:00 PM at St Noel Church

"There is a mimetic competition of scandals, which continues until the moment when the most polarizing scandal remains alone on the stage. This is when the whole community is mobilized against one and the same individual." - René Girard

As we started discussing the thought of René Girard in our last meeting, we discussed how mimetic desire often times leads to violence. This week, we will discuss how society stops itself from collapsing in on itself as its members completely destroy each other. Join us on Saturday, February 14 at 7:00pm at St Noel Church as we discuss René Girard's thoughts on the scapegoat.
